WOCA Intensive Wood Cleaner for deep cleaning wooden surfaces
WOCA Intensive Wood Cleaner is a powerful deep cleaner and degreaser for interior wooden surfaces. It removes stubborn dirt, grease, old soap residue and accumulated maintenance layers.
The cleaner can be used on untreated, oiled, soap-treated and lacquered wood. However, the correct mixing ratio and finishing treatment depend on the surface. Always read the instructions before use and test the product on an inconspicuous area first.
WOCA Intensive Wood Cleaner is not intended for normal weekly cleaning. Use it only when thorough cleaning is required or to prepare a surface for a new treatment with oil, lacquer or soap.
When should you use WOCA Intensive Wood Cleaner?
Use WOCA Intensive Wood Cleaner:
-
To remove stubborn dirt and grease
-
To remove accumulated soap and maintenance layers
-
To restore a heavily soiled oiled floor
-
Before applying WOCA Maintenance Oil
-
Before a new treatment with oil, lacquer or soap
-
After sanding, to prepare the wood carefully for its new finish
-
For cleaning untreated wooden floors, furniture, panels and worktops
-
When normal cleaning with Eco Multi Cleaner is no longer sufficient
A complete intensive cleaning treatment should normally be required only occasionally on a properly maintained floor. Local wear or contamination can sometimes be treated locally.
Not intended for normal weekly cleaning
Do not use WOCA Intensive Wood Cleaner as a daily or weekly floor cleaner. Its powerful degreasing action may reduce or remove the existing oil, soap or wax protection.
Use Eco Multi Cleaner for normal weekly cleaning. This removes everyday dirt, grease and signs of use without carrying out a complete intensive treatment every time.
Even with careful maintenance, a floor may eventually require local or complete intensive cleaning. The WocaStore maintenance plan reduces this need, but it cannot guarantee that a floor will never become dirty.
Mixing ratios
Shake or mix the product thoroughly before use.
Use the following as a general guideline:
-
Untreated or lacquered wood: approximately 1 part Intensive Wood Cleaner to 40 parts lukewarm water
-
Oiled or soap-treated wood: approximately 1 part Intensive Wood Cleaner to 20 parts lukewarm water
-
Preparation for maintenance oil: approximately 125 ml Intensive Wood Cleaner in 2.5 litres of lukewarm water
A weaker solution may be sufficient for light contamination. Do not use more product than necessary and always follow the instructions on the packaging.
How to use WOCA Intensive Wood Cleaner
Step 1 – Check the surface
First determine which product was originally used to finish the wood. Test the cleaner on a small, inconspicuous area and assess the result after drying.
Remove vulnerable furniture and protect adjacent surfaces that should not come into contact with the product.
Step 2 – Remove loose dirt
Vacuum the floor thoroughly and remove sand, dust and other loose dirt.
Do not use a hard brush or any material that could scratch the surface.
Step 3 – Prepare two buckets
We recommend using two buckets:
-
One bucket containing the prepared cleaning solution
-
One bucket containing clean water for rinsing the mop or pad
This prevents dissolved dirt from being spread back across the floor.
Step 4 – Apply the solution
Apply the cleaning solution evenly so the wood is properly damp, but not soaking wet.
Work in manageable sections and do not leave large amounts of water or puddles on the wooden floor.
Heavily soiled areas can be treated carefully with a white pad, soft brush or suitable floor-polishing machine.
Step 5 – Allow it to work briefly
Allow the solution to work for approximately 10–15 minutes.
Do not allow the cleaning solution to dry completely. Avoid treating an excessively large area at once.
Step 6 – Remove the dissolved dirt
Remove the dissolved dirt with a clean, well-wrung mop.
Rinse the mop regularly in the bucket containing clean water. Replace the rinsing water when it becomes heavily soiled.
Repeat the treatment if necessary.
Step 7 – Allow the wood to dry completely
Allow the wood to dry completely before applying a new protective treatment.
When WOCA Maintenance Oil will be applied afterwards, we recommend a drying time of at least 7–8 hours under normal conditions. The floor must be completely clean and dry before applying the oil.
Lower temperatures, insufficient ventilation or higher humidity may extend the drying time.
Restore the protection after cleaning
On oiled, soap-treated or waxed wood, WOCA Intensive Wood Cleaner removes dirt and may also remove part of the existing protection.
Once the surface is completely dry, restore it using the product appropriate for the original finish:
-
Use WOCA Maintenance Oil on an oiled floor
-
Use WOCA Natural Soap on a soap-treated surface
-
Use a suitable maintenance wax on a waxed surface
-
Follow the appropriate maintenance instructions for the existing lacquer system on a lacquered floor
Do not leave an intensively cleaned oiled floor in use for an extended period without restoring its oil protection.
How does Intensive Wood Cleaner fit into the WocaStore maintenance plan?
Many people believe that WOCA Intensive Wood Cleaner should be used regularly to keep their floor clean. This is not the intention within the WocaStore maintenance plan.
WOCA Intensive Wood Cleaner is primarily used to create a completely clean starting point. It removes old contamination, grease, accumulated soap layers and residue from previous maintenance products.
This allows the new maintenance oil to penetrate the wood properly and evenly. After this thorough initial treatment, follow the normal WocaStore maintenance plan.
Step 1 – Clean the floor thoroughly
First clean a contaminated floor with WOCA Intensive Wood Cleaner. This removes dirt and old maintenance layers that would otherwise remain trapped underneath the new protective treatment.
When preparing the floor for maintenance oil, use approximately 125 ml WOCA Intensive Wood Cleaner in 2.5 litres of lukewarm water.
Remove all dissolved dirt carefully and allow the floor to dry completely for at least 7–8 hours.
Step 2 – Restore the oil protection
Once the floor is completely dry, apply the appropriate WOCA Maintenance Oil in Natural or White.
The maintenance oil nourishes the wood and restores the floor’s protection. Use the white version only on floors originally treated with white oil.
Step 3 – Periodically nourish the floor
Use WOCA Natural Soap approximately once every one or two months.
Within the WocaStore maintenance plan, Natural Soap is primarily used for additional nourishment and to leave a thin, protective soap layer.
Use WOCA Natural Soap Natural on naturally oiled and dark-oiled floors. Use WOCA Natural Soap White on white-oiled floors.
Step 4 – Carry out normal weekly cleaning
Use Eco Multi Cleaner for normal weekly cleaning, or more frequently when required.
This removes everyday dirt, grease and signs of use before they can accumulate in or between the protective maintenance layers.
When should Intensive Wood Cleaner be used again?
When the WocaStore maintenance plan is followed correctly, WOCA Intensive Wood Cleaner is normally not required for weekly or monthly maintenance.
Use it again when:
-
The floor is heavily soiled because of neglected maintenance
-
Too much soap or another maintenance product has accumulated
-
Streaks, sticky layers or substantial differences in sheen have appeared
-
Normal cleaning no longer cleans the floor sufficiently
-
A new treatment with maintenance oil is required
-
You want to create a completely clean starting point again
The purpose of the WocaStore maintenance plan is not to ensure that a floor literally never becomes dirty. Its purpose is to remove normal contamination every week, making heavy intensive cleaning necessary far less frequently.
