WOCA Exterior Deep Cleaner – wood de-greyer for exterior wood

WOCA Exterior Deep Cleaner is a powerful, ready-to-use wood de-greyer for the intensive cleaning and rejuvenation of weathered exterior wood. It removes heavy soiling, stains, old oil residue and grey patina and helps restore the wood’s original appearance.

Its thick, viscous consistency minimises dripping, making it suitable for vertical surfaces such as cladding, fences, garden buildings and wooden walls.

Exterior Deep Cleaner is ready to use and must not be diluted with water.

When should Deep Cleaner be used?

Use WOCA Exterior Deep Cleaner when exterior wood:

• Is severely weathered or grey

• Is deeply soiled

• Contains old or weathered oil residue

• Has developed a visible grey patina

• Is being prepared for complete rejuvenation or renovation

For normal periodic cleaning of exterior wood without severe greying, use WOCA Exterior Cleaner. Exterior Cleaner is a concentrated maintenance cleaner that must be diluted with water.

Exterior Deep Cleaner is considerably more intensive, is applied undiluted and is designed for heavily soiled and weathered wood.

Test first on oak and near metal components

Exterior Deep Cleaner is an acidic cleaner with a pH value of approximately 1–2. It may react with tannin-rich wood, certain metals and sensitive surfaces.

Do not use the product on oak or an unknown wood species without first performing a test. Ask for advice if you are uncertain.

Protect metal fittings and other components that are not resistant to corrosion or acids. Avoid prolonged contact with metal and immediately rinse away any spills with plenty of water.

Do not apply the product to rotten, severely damaged or structurally unsound wood.

Depending on the surface, we recommend:

Do not use steel wool on wet, acid-treated wood. Metal particles left behind can react and cause dark discolouration or rust marks.

Preparation

Only carry out the treatment in dry weather. A cloudy day with a temperature between approximately 10 and 25°C is ideal. Avoid direct sunlight, intense heat and rain.

Remove leaves, branches, sand and other loose debris. Thoroughly and evenly soak the wood with plenty of clean water, preferably using a garden hose.

The wood must be completely wet before applying Exterior Deep Cleaner. Always perform a test application on a small, inconspicuous area first.

Applying WOCA Exterior Deep Cleaner

Exterior Deep Cleaner is ready to use and must not be diluted.

Apply the product evenly to the wet wood with a brush, roller or suitable sprayer. Make sure the complete surface is sufficiently covered.

Allow the wood de-greyer to work for approximately 15–20 minutes. Do not allow the product to dry completely during this period. Lightly wet the surface again if necessary.

After the working time, scrub the wood firmly in the longitudinal direction of the grain with a suitable stiff-bristled brush.

Rinse the surface very thoroughly with plenty of clean water. Continue rinsing until all loosened contamination and cleaner residue have been removed.

Repeat the treatment if the wood is not sufficiently clean or de-greyed after the first application.

Drying, sanding and re-oiling

At approximately 20°C, allow the cleaned wood to dry for at least 48–72 hours. The wood must be completely dry before applying a new oil treatment.

Intensive cleaning can raise the wood fibres. If a smooth finish is required, lightly sand the dry wood with a 180–240-grit sanding pad or abrasive paper. Remove all sanding dust afterwards.

Treat the clean and dry wood with the appropriate colour of WOCA Exterior Oil. The oil restores the colour and provides renewed protection against water, dirt and weather exposure.

Exterior Deep Cleaner is a cleaning product and does not provide permanent final protection by itself.

Important safety information

WOCA Exterior Deep Cleaner is strongly acidic and may cause serious eye damage.

• Wear protective gloves, clothing and eye or face protection

• Avoid contact with eyes and skin

• Keep out of the reach of children

• Prevent release into soil, drains and surface water

• In case of eye contact, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes

• Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do, then continue rinsing

• Immediately contact a doctor or poison centre following eye contact

• Always read the label and safety information on the container before use
