WOCA Exterior Wood Oil Teak for garden furniture and exterior wood
WOCA Exterior Wood Oil Teak is a water-based, pigmented exterior oil for the initial treatment and periodic maintenance of teak garden furniture, wooden decking and other exterior wood.
The Teak colour gives the wood a warm golden-brown to teak-brown appearance. Weathered or grey teak can regain a warmer and well-maintained colour while its natural grain and characteristic structure remain visible.
The oil penetrates the wood and creates a strong water- and dirt-resistant, breathable, open-pore surface. WOCA Exterior Wood Oil contains a UV filter, has a thick and easy-to-control consistency and dries relatively quickly.
Always test the oil on a small, inconspicuous area or a piece of spare wood first. The final appearance depends on the wood species, original colour, weathering, absorbency and preparation.

Always use our recommended rollers, brushes and application materials
The final result is not determined by the oil alone. Using the correct tools helps distribute WOCA Exterior Wood Oil in a thin and even layer without unnecessary roller marks or visible overlaps.
Use the professional materials shown at the bottom of this product page under Related Products.
We recommend:
-
Tisa-Line 25 cm roller with frame: for decking and other large, flat surfaces
-
Tisa-Line mini rollers with frame: for garden furniture, narrow boards and smaller projects
-
Special flat brush: for table tops, seats, boards and edges
-
Special round brush: for spindles, grooves, joints and difficult-to-reach areas
-
10 × 3 cm block brush: for quickly distributing oil over wider or rougher surfaces
-
Professional extension pole: for comfortable and even application on decking
-
Cotton cloths: for removing all excess oil
-
White pads: for levelling and buffing the surface after drying
Do not use an unsuitable, low-quality roller or brush. It may apply too much or too little oil, shed fibres or create stripes and uneven areas.

Preparing teak and hardwood
Clean both new and previously treated exterior wood with WOCA Exterior Cleaner before applying the oil.
For heavily soiled, weathered or grey teak, use WOCA Exterior Deep Cleaner/Wood Degreyer.
Rinse the wood thoroughly according to the product instructions and allow it to dry sufficiently. The moisture content of the wood must not exceed 17% when the oil is applied.
Remove any raised wood fibres with suitable sandpaper, approximately grit 120–150. Carefully remove all sanding dust afterwards.
Teak naturally contains oily extractives and may absorb less oil or absorb it unevenly. Before treatment, the wood must be completely clean, dry, absorbent and free from previous finishes and cleaning residue.
WOCA Exterior Wood Primer is intended for certain untreated, non-impregnated softwoods and is not normally required for teak.
Applying WOCA Exterior Wood Oil Teak
Only treat the wood in dry weather and at an outdoor temperature of at least 13°C. Avoid application in direct sunlight, extreme heat or when rain is expected during the drying period.
Stir the oil thoroughly before and during application. The colour pigments may settle at the bottom of the container and must be completely and evenly mixed into the oil.
Step 1 – Difficult-to-reach areas
Start by treating the end grain, edges, spindles, grooves and joints with our suitable flat, round or block brush.
Step 2 – Treating large and flat surfaces
Apply a thin and even coat to decking and other large surfaces using our 25 cm Tisa-Line roller.
Use our mini rollers for garden furniture, table tops, seats, narrow boards and smaller areas. Carefully finish spindles, edges, grooves and joints with a suitable brush.
Work in manageable sections and follow the direction of the wood grain wherever possible.
Do not apply a thick layer. Teak is generally dense and may absorb very little oil. The oil must penetrate the wood and must not remain on the surface as a wet coating.
Step 3 – Removing excess oil
Check each treated section after no more than five minutes and remove all excess oil with our clean cotton cloths.
Pay particular attention to joints, grooves, spindles and recessed areas. No wet, glossy or thick patches of oil should remain.
Oil that is not completely removed may dry unevenly, remain sticky or create locally darker areas.
Step 4 – Checking colour and absorption
If the wood still appears dry or insufficiently saturated after the first treatment, the application may be repeated.
Several thin coats are preferable to one thick coat. Remove all excess oil after every application.
Professional finishing with a white pad
Once the surface is sufficiently dry, it can be buffed with a white hand pad or a suitable single-disc machine fitted with a white polishing pad.
This helps produce a smooth and even finish and can reduce local differences in colour and sheen.
Drying and curing time
At approximately 20°C and under normal weather conditions, WOCA Exterior Wood Oil requires approximately 24–48 hours to cure fully.
During this period, protect the treated wood from:
-
Rain and other water
-
Dew and condensation
-
Intensive use
-
Wet objects
-
Covering with non-breathable materials
Lower temperatures, high humidity, insufficient ventilation and low absorption by dense teak may extend the drying time.
Maintaining teak garden furniture
Inspect the treated wood at least once a year. Maintenance is required when the colour becomes dull or uneven, the wood starts to look dry or water is absorbed more quickly.
Clean the surface with WOCA Exterior Cleaner and allow it to dry completely. Then apply another thin coat of WOCA Exterior Wood Oil Teak using our recommended rollers and brushes.
For normal maintenance, it is not always necessary to sand the wood completely back to bare timber. Loose fibres, damage and heavily weathered or uneven layers must, however, be removed or lightly sanded.

Woca Exterior Oil gekocht voor mijn vlonder*. Hoog kwalitatief spul! De regendruppels blijven OP de planken liggen en de tint is weer prachtig op orde. Dit koop je niet in een bouwmarkt. De prijs was lager dan standaard in een parketzaak. Had in mijn overmoed 1 blik teveel gekocht. Is gelijk gecrediteerd door de WocaStore. Alle complimenten dus!
*Tip: koop een blokkwast, steek/draai daar een steel in en je kunt staand/lopend de jaarlijkse beurt uitvoeren.
